What Is Trend Strength?
Trend strength refers to the degree of conviction or momentum behind a market's current directional movement. A strong trend generally shows consistent movement in one direction with relatively few or shallow counter-moves, while a weak trend might show more frequent or larger counter-moves relative to the overall directional progress.
Why Trend Strength Matters
Understanding trend strength adds nuance to the basic identification of trend direction. A market can be in a general uptrend, for example, but with weak or strong underlying strength, which can be relevant context when combined with other factors like volatility condition (covered in the previous unit) and key support and resistance zones.
