GBP/USD Trades Within 1.3400–1.3475 as Markets Assess the Near-Term Outlook
GBP/USD pulled back after briefly rising to 1.3506, with the pair subsequently reaching 1.3418 and closing 0.35% lower at 1.3434.
According to UOB strategist Quek Ser Leang, the earlier advance had reached overbought conditions, limiting further momentum near the 1.3520 area. Following the reversal, UOB sees scope for the pullback to continue, although the absence of a clear increase in downward momentum suggests that price movement may remain largely within the 1.3400–1.3475 range.
UOB considers a sustained move below 1.3400 less likely under its current 24-hour assessment. However, this represents the institution’s market view rather than a confirmed price outcome.
Over a one-to-three-week period, UOB noted that broader momentum continues to indicate some upside potential. Nevertheless, the recent pullback has reduced the probability of GBP/USD reaching the significant resistance level at 1.3555.
The 1.3385 area remains UOB’s identified strong support level for maintaining the broader momentum structure. Market participants will therefore continue to monitor 1.3400 and 1.3475 as near-term range references, together with 1.3385 and 1.3555 as broader technical levels.
