US Dollar Index Rebounds Toward 101.00 as Technical Levels Remain in Focus

The US Dollar Index, which measures the US Dollar against six major currencies, traded around 101.00 during Thursday’s European session after recovering from two consecutive sessions of declines.

From a technical perspective, DXY remains above its 50-day Exponential Moving Average at 100.54, while the nine-day EMA at 101.14 represents an immediate upper reference. The index is currently positioned between these two moving averages, highlighting a relatively narrow near-term technical area.

The 14-day Relative Strength Index is near 51, indicating broadly balanced momentum with a slight positive bias. The FXS Fed Sentiment Index stands at 147.58, suggesting that current Federal Reserve policy expectations remain relevant to broader US Dollar sentiment. However, this indicator reflects market sentiment and does not confirm a future price direction.

The daily chart also shows DXY trading slightly below its previous ascending channel. This means that both recovery momentum and downside risks remain relevant while the index consolidates near 101.00.

On the upper side, the nine-day EMA at 101.14 is the first technical reference. Other levels identified in the supplied analysis include the 14-month high at 101.80, recorded on June 24, and the former channel boundary near 103.60.

On the lower side, the 50-day EMA at 100.54 remains an important reference. The analysis also identifies 97.62, the nearly five-month low recorded on May 6, as a broader lower technical level.

Market participants will continue to monitor movements around 100.54 and 101.14, together with Federal Reserve policy expectations and changes in technical momentum. These factors may contribute to short-term volatility in DXY and US Dollar-related currency pairs.
